Our firm was founded by Marvin Smith in 1965. Marvin’s son Tim continued to serve the community as TJ Smith & Associates where, now owner, Tawnya Mack began working in 1998. In 2003, Tawnya took ownership of the firm and now operates as Mack & Associates, P.C. Tawnya is a certified public accountant, a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Illinois Certified Public Accountant’s Society (ICPAS) and licensed in the State of Illinois.

Mack & Associates, P.C. is the largest firm in Grundy County staffed entirely by local employees.  Staff includes Lauri Pope, CPA, Cate Moulton, CPA, Kyle Sheppard, CPA, Madison Scheel, CPA, Chris Christensen, Kelsey Cavelle, Addie McNabb, Cadee Grieff, and Jessika McGarvey.

As a local mid-sized firm, our ability to serve all of our clients with the personal attention they deserve accompanied with the professionalism and expertise a larger firm can provide separates us from other accounting firms.  We remain proactive throughout the year, keeping our clients aware of current legislation as well as making sure our clients are in full compliance with all laws and regulations.  We also offer QuickBooks assistance and set-up for businesses.  Our hands-on approach allows us to remain in contact with our clients throughout the year to ensure proper tax planning and provide our clients with the best possible strategic plan for their tax returns.

Our mission is to provide the best possible service through a combination of large firm expertise and resources with small firm costs and attention.  We seek to assist our clients with services of setting up day-to-day accounting systems, preparing the most diverse and complicated tax return and auditing large municipal entities.
